This week we studied the 3 primary colors and completed science experiments mixing the colors.
To introduce the primary colors, each child had their own transparent colored circle and as we sang a song about the colors, they held them to the light to make the secondary colors.
It has become one of their favorite songs.
After reading A Color of His Own, they picked 2 primary colors and mixed the paint to find out what color the chameleon would be. They had to record their findings on the sheet.
After reading Who Said Red? They designed their own kite. It was a great listening exercise.
To get ready for 1st grade, we've started doing a lot more whole group activities.
In the math center, we sorted paint samples by color and then had to sort them from lighest to darkest. We drew a color and shape pattern when we were finished.
We've had fun reading big books when we go to the reading center.
We used water color paints in art.
