Mapping America!

Friday, February 26, 2010

We started our week by completing our unit of study on Presidents and American Symbols. We then started learning about maps. We created maps and read many types of maps. To celebrate the end of our study on America, we baked an American Flag cake.
We discussed how you have to read the directions and follow the recipe if you want what your cooking to turn out correctly.

We discussed how you have to measure and tell time when cooking.

We thought it was neat that our cake started off as a liquid and then baked into a solid.

Yum! Yum! It was beautiful and delicious!

In the games and puzzles center, we recreated a maps of a living room. We used doll house furniture.

We listened to a story about telling time, put together a clock puzzle, and then make our own clock to practice at home!

We have had a fun time working in our town center. One day I overheard there was a robot loose in the city and taking it over.

In math we added 50 star stickers to our flag. We put them on in 5 groups of 10 and then practiced counting by 10s.
