Peace Center Field Trip
Friday, May 7, 2010
Finding some shade! It was a very warm day!
Mrs. Robinson having lunch with her grandson.
I think their favorite part was going back and forth in the chairs. We had front row seats!
Whooped!
Going..
going...
and gone!
Diggin' Dinos!
They really enjoy playing math games together.
One of the kids favorite parts of the week is the estimating jar. Each week we put a new item in a different size jar and estimate how many pieces of candy are in the jar. We have all week, during centers, to make an estimate. If we try, at the end of the week, we get to sample the candy. If we estimate the correct number, we get to take the jar of candy home.
We got a little messy digging for fossils in the science center.
We enjoyed finding all the different treasures in the fossil mounds. It was hard work to find them!
Each morning the kids have a writing assignment to complete in their journals. They enjoy reading their journals to the class. We were sharing about our favorite part of the field trip.
The Dinosaurs Are Back!
Friday, April 30, 2010
The kids had a fun week exploring dinosaurs and raising money for Relay For Life! Each day the kids paid $1 to participate in Relay For Life Spirit Week! Ravenel raised over
$2, 000 this week!It was a windy, beautiful day for the balloon release.
We released balloons in memory or honor of people effected by cancer. Then we took a lap of silence around the track.
playing math games
Can you write the missing number?
You can hear the kids singing in the listening center. It's too cute!
We sorted dinosaurs and tallied how many we had. We had to sort the dinosaurs 6 different ways. It was a challenge!
Happy Birthday JC!
We've heard some very interesting conversations in our Mexican Restaurant!
For snack we were herbivores and carnivores. As carnivores we ate chicken legs and matzo balls (for dinosaur eggs).
In art, we painted a dinosaur scene. Next week, we will add characters to our painting.
We were so proud of how well the kids measured the "dinosaur bones" in science.
We compared, predicted, and counted using dinosaur eggs, a human foot, and a dinosaur foot.
Magnetized
Monday, April 19, 2010
We discovered that magnets can be attracted to each other through paper and plastic.
We moved a marble using a magnet and created a magnet marble painting.
Exploring magnets in science
Building with magnets
writing rhyming families
playing war
learning to play phone-a-word-we call our friend and ask them to spell a high frequency word
We've enjoyed putting on a puppet show for our friends.
